Here’s when Samsung will reveal it’s new folding superphones
Put July 22 in your diaries, foldable fans; Samsung has officially announced the date of its next Unpacked event, signalling when we’ll get our first official look at the wider Galaxy Z Fold. One of this year’s most anticipated upcoming phones will make its debut in the UK, ahead of a worldwide release in the coming weeks.
This year’s summer Unpacked event will kick off at 2PM BST (that’s 9AM EDT or 6AM PDT) in London. Foldable phones will be the focus and the wider Galaxy Z Fold 8 is clearly going to be the headline act: Samsung previously hinted at the new arrival with a series of teasers highlighting the shorter but wider form factor.
The tech world widely sees the new shape as Samsung wanting to get in quick before the Apple iPhone Fold arrives later this year. Little else about the handset is confirmed right now, but a dual rear camera setup and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset are expected.

It surely won’t be the only Fold revealed at unpacked either. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is rumoured to be a refreshed version of the tall and thin Galaxy Z Fold 7, keeping the long and thin shape Samsung has stuck with for multiple generations now. It’ll be the more premium of the pair, with an extra rear camera lens. Hopefully Samsung will have found a way to squeeze in a bigger battery than it did for the outgoing model, now that rivals including the Honor Magic V6 are packing absolutely massive 6600mAh cells.
Other hardware also predicted to debut include the Galaxy Z Flip 8 clamshell, Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2 wearables, and a pair of clip-style Galaxy Bud earbuds. It’s unclear right now if Samsung will also use Unpacked to launch its Meta-rivalling smart glasses, which were shown off for the first time back in May.
Stuff will be in attendance at Unpacked to bring you all the launches as they happen.
