Jon Klassen x Hanna Andersson I Want My Hat Back Collection
There are certain children’s books that become part of the rhythm of family life—the ones your kids ask for every night, and that you somehow never get tired of reading. Jon Klassen’s I Want My Hat Back is one of those rare modern classics, beloved for its sly humor, unforgettable illustrations, and the quiet wink it gives readers along the way. Now, those iconic characters are making the leap from the bookshelf to the closet.
Launching today, Hanna Andersson’s new collaboration with Jon Klassen is part of the brand’s new Bedtime Stories campaign, celebrating the simple magic of reading together. Alongside the signature Hanna pajamas in two prints (bear and rabbit), the limited-edition collection includes a back-to-school-ready ringer tee, long-sleeve dress, and cozy French terry sweatshirts for kids and grown-ups, too.
“For my first book, I Want My Hat Back, I made endpapers whereupon the characters and plants tiled across the page against a soft background. What I was really doing, even back then, was wishing those endpapers were pajamas,” Klassen says. “Book illustration has always been, at least a little bit for me, wishing I was drawing animals onto pajamas. Here, finally, thanks to Hanna Andersson, THE people who make pajamas, are some pajamas with my animals from I Want My Hat Back on them, and I couldn’t be happier.”
We’re especially excited about this mashup because MOTHER is partnering on a special Los Angeles event to celebrate the collab. Angelenos, save the date! On Sunday, August 23 (11am) Hanna Andersson and Jon Klassen will be at Skylight Books for a special story time event you won’t want to miss. Check back for the official RSVP link.
